He started his neurosurgical education in 1992 at University hospital of Regensburg.
Prof. Woertgen holds a professorship University hospital of Regensburg up to today and is involved in the curriculum.
In 2004 he was appointed as a professor for Neurosurgery with a focus on Neurotraumatology. He established the minimalinvasive and instrumented spine surgery. The results of his basic research and his surgical experiences were published in many international renowned journals and books.
Today Prof. Woertgen is working as a licensed Neurosurgeon in his own practice.
